AIPlagScan (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a web service that analyses documents for AI‑generated content and textual similarity. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This page describes the types of information we may collect from you, how we use it and the choices you have regarding your data.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. If you contact us for support, we may collect your name and any information you choose to provide.

Payment Information

All subscriptions and add‑on purchases are processed through PayPal. We receive confirmation of your payment status (e.g., subscription active, cancelled, past due) but do not receive or store your full card number or bank details. PayPal’s privacy policy governs their handling of your payment information.

Usage and Technical Information

We log basic technical details when you interact with our service, including your IP address, browser type, operating system and the date/time of your requests. We use this data to secure the service, troubleshoot issues and improve performance. We do not sell this information.

Uploaded Documents

When you submit a document, we extract the text and store it in a temporary processing area. We delete your document immediately after generating your reports. We do not retain the full text in our database or logs. Reports may include short excerpts (within the limits configured by the administrator) to provide context, but the full document is never kept.

Reports and Metadata

We retain the PDF reports and basic metadata needed to display them, such as file name, word count, AI detection score, similarity percentage and matched sources. These records are kept for the retention period specified in your plan (e.g., 30 days for Tier 1) and deleted thereafter.

How We Use Information

• To provide the service. This includes creating your account, processing your documents, generating reports, enforcing usage limits and communicating with you about your account.
• To improve and secure the service. We analyse usage trends to optimise performance, protect against abuse and improve features.
• To manage subscriptions and payments. We use your account identifier to associate payments from PayPal with your account and to determine your plan tier and allowances.
• To communicate with you. We may send you transactional emails (e.g., receipt confirmations, password resets) and respond to support requests. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

• Payment Processor. We share necessary payment identifiers with PayPal to initiate subscriptions and one‑time purchases. PayPal stores and processes your payment information under their own policies.
• Service Providers and Hosting. We may use trusted cloud providers to host our infrastructure and run the analysis engines. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose.
• Legal Compliance. We may disclose information when required to do so by law or to protect our rights, users or others. We will notify you of such requests when legally permissible.

Data Security

We employ industry‑standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption at rest for sensitive credentials, secure connections (HTTPS) and restricted access controls. Passwords are hashed and salted using strong algorithms. Uploaded documents are stored only in memory or on disk temporarily during processing and deleted immediately after reports are generated. Despite our efforts, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

• Documents: Your uploaded file is deleted as soon as the AI and similarity reports are generated. Temporary files are cleaned up automatically by our background jobs.
• Reports: PDF reports and associated metadata are retained for the period specified in your plan. After this retention window, we delete the reports and their metadata. You can also delete reports earlier via your account settings.
• Account Data: We retain your account and payment status so long as your subscription remains active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records).

Your Rights and Choices

• Access and correction. You can view and update your account information at any time by logging in. If you need assistance, contact us at [email protected].
• Delete reports. You may delete individual reports or all reports from your dashboard. Deleting a report removes it from our storage.
• Delete your account. If you wish to close your account, please contact us. We will deactivate your subscription, delete your personal data and cease processing your documents.
