1.What is AIPlagScan?

AIPlagScan is a web-based service that analyses your documents for two types of similarity: AI detection and text similarity. After you upload a file, our system generates two separate downloadable reports - one assessing how much of the content may have been produced by an AI model and another showing overlaps with other sources.

2.How does the checking process work?

When you submit a document, we extract the text, run it through Turnitin and compile two independent analyses. The AI report indicates the percentage of text likely to be AI-generated and flags excerpts that stand out. The similarity report compares your text against a broad corpus to calculate an overall similarity score and lists the matching passages. You will receive your reports within a few minutes.

3.What is a Similarity Percentage?

The similarity percentage tells you how much of your document overlaps with other sources in our reference database. A high percentage means portions of your text are found elsewhere. Review the sources and highlighted snippets in the similarity report to understand the context.

4.What is an AI Detection Percentage?

The AI detection percentage predicts how much of your document might have been generated by an AI model. It is an estimate based on linguistic patterns and is not definitive proof of AI use. Use it as one signal among many when assessing writing.

5.How long does it take to get results?

Most scans finish within a couple of minutes. The exact time depends on document length and system load. You can track the progress on your dashboard; once complete, you will see download buttons for both reports.

6.Do you store my document?

No. We process your file in a temporary location and delete it as soon as the reports are generated. Only the PDF reports and minimal metadata are retained in your account. See our privacy policy for more details.

7.Is my identity shared with any analysis provider?

No personal identifiers are sent to our analysis providers. We transmit only the extracted text and internal job IDs required to generate your reports. Your account details remain within AIPlagScan.

8.What file types can I upload?

You can upload PDF, and DOCX files. Each file must be within the size limit specified on the pricing page. Legacy .doc files are not supported.

9.Why does not AI Plag Scan index my paper in Turnitin?

We do not save your paper in Turnitin’s database. This means you can check many times. Your work will not be stored there.

10.What does "%" (or "*%") mean in the Turnitin AI report?

From mid-July 2024, Turnitin may show "*%" for AI scores between 1% and 19%. It may not show the exact number in that range.

If the AI score is 0% or 20% and above, Turnitin usually shows the exact percent. Turnitin does this because AI detection is less reliable in the lower range.

If your school does not require 0%, then "*%" is often acceptable.

11.Will the AI score from AI Plag Scan match what my school sees?

Usually yes, if the text is the same. Small edits can change the score. This includes formatting, grammar fixes, and rewrites. If you edit anything, run the check again.

12.Can I use AI Plag Scan after I submit to my school’s Turnitin?

Yes, you can. But the similarity score may become very high. This happens because your paper is already in Turnitin.

The AI score can still be checked.

13.Why was my work flagged as AI if I did not use AI tools?

No tool is 100% accurate. Turnitin can make mistakes. Tools like Grammarly or QuillBot can also affect results. Try to rewrite stiff or robotic lines in a more natural way.

14.Why does Turnitin show 0% AI but GPTZero show a high score?

Turnitin is more careful. It tries to avoid false flags. It focuses on stopping fully AI-written papers. That is why its score may be lower than GPTZero.

15.Why did my AI report fail to generate?

Turnitin AI reports may fail if the document is:

  • Not in English.
  • Less than 350 words.
  • Over 30,000 words.
  • Your work contains images, figures, and tables (Please delete them before uploading your work).

If none of these apply, upload and try again.

16.Will my Turnitin AI score always stay at 0%?

Not always. Turnitin updates its system over time. A later update may score the same paper differently. This does not change the report you already made for your current submission.

17.Why did new parts get flagged after I edited the paper?

Turnitin checks the whole paper each time. It does not lock results to one section. When you change one part, the overall style can shift. So different sections may get flagged.

Example: Maria has a 1,000-word paper with sections A-E. First check flags section C. Maria edits C and checks again. Now C looks fine, but section A gets flagged. This happens because Turnitin re-scores the full paper every time.

18.How do I contact support?

Email us at [email protected]. We are available around the clock.

19.So, can a 0% AI score change later?

Yes, it can. Turnitin may update its AI model in the future. That can affect how it judges the same text later. But your current report is still valid for what you submitted now.

20.Do you offer a free plan?

Sorry. We do not offer a free tier at this time. See the pricing page for current rates.

21.Can I delete my reports?

Yes. You can delete individual reports or remove all reports at once from your account settings. Deleting a report removes the PDF and associated metadata from our servers. You can also delete your entire account if you no longer wish to use the service.
